Voters who won’t be able to make it to the polls on Nov. 4 will have until Oct. 28 to file a mail-in ballot request with the county Registrar of Voters.
“Voting by mail is easy, convenient, and a great way to beat the crowds at the polls,” California Secretary of State Debra Bowen said Thursday. “If you’ll be pressed for time on Election Day, voting by mail is perhaps the best way to ensure your voice is still heard.”
Requests should be mailed no later than today to Sonoma County Registrar of Voters, P.O. Box 11485, Santa Rosa, CA 95406-1485 to ensure they reach the registrar’s office by deadline.
Vote-by-mail ballots can be returned any time between now and Election Day. However, ballots must be received – not just postmarked – by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day in order to be counted. On Election Day, voters may drop off their ballots at their county elections office or at any polling place in the county where they are registered to vote.
More information on voting by mail is at http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/elections_m.htm.
