Lower rents
Editor: With all the heat about and against so called affordable housing, nobody seems to mind that greedy landlords/ladies prefer leaving empty store fronts rather than lowering their rents. I had been angry at the waste even before the monster office and retail building at the corner of First street West and…. has been built. That thing went up at a time when so many new and not so new office spaces were already empty, some of them for years.
Couldn’t some apartment space have been reserved for those who were supposed to work there? That particular building is still empty and several years have already gone since its completion. Moreover , on Broadway, additional office spaces have also been empty for years, ans some have been left unfinished. All these blind store fronts make our town look pretty bad. Someone once told me (with a wicked grin) that our city should have an ordinance decreeing that any office/retail building left empty for a unreasonable length of time would be rented to a non profit organization for a dollar a month.

Kudos to children
Editor: Last month, I had the opportunity to see the production of the Lion King, in Sonoma, by Cat Austin and ETC! performers and my spirits were lifted and I was fabulously impressed with the quality of the production. The performers singing & dancing was magnificent and professional. They lived into their characters and acted from their hearts. The staging was well choreographed and the plays intimate setting (Woman’s Club) made for a performance that warmed my heart all evening.
