Appreciates firefighters and neighbors
Editor: Our family would like to thank the Shell Vista, Glen Ellen and all other fire personnel as well as the Red Cross, the ambulance and paramedics that came to our aid on Monday, May 11. A horrendous fire burned our barn, Dale’s art studio and a workshop in back of our house. The firefighters battled it bravely and efficiently. The wind made the fire difficult and dangerous to fight. It could have spread to our neighbors’ homes. Some vineyard workers came to help our backyard neighbors. They got the brush cleared quickly from the fence and trees. I can’t praise these brave people enough. Dreams were lost as Dale’s studio perished. Son George lost his electric car model and his dream of creating a new car design. It could have been so much worse.
We are so grateful that they responded in six minutes. Our house is in the country and sometimes hard to find. The houses are close together here. We are so blessed to have such well-trained professionals in Sonoma. They are awesome to watch in action.
We are also lucky to have such wonderful neighbors and friends. The concern and caring plus the hugs were so appreciated. Those who came to help with Dale’s surviving art work are most dear to us. Thank you all.

Amused by just joan
Editor: Joan, Joan, Joan, your column is a constant source of amusement and amazement. First you host an event for peace. Yet, there is only one faction invited. The other side had to seek an invitation. And now, you are a proponent of alternative medicine, (although you do not even play a doctor on TV) with antidotal stories. Freedom of the press, whee!

Supports music at Emmy’s
Editor: I was disappointed to hear there was a small group of citizens opposing Emmy’s ability to have music. The old Deuce site is a perfect place in a wide-open commercial zone with lots of parking for families and friends to gather and enjoy some great wine country hospitality and music. Many great businesses have gone away from Sonoma because of the small minority, or shall I say the “NIMBYs” always saying no. Let us look at this as an opportunity to bring back some fun and a good clean place where we can all gather with our teens, kids and families rather than having to go out of town to spend our dollars. My husband John and I support Emmy’s ability to serve great food and provide live entertainment for all of the community.

Supports manufactured homes
Editor: This is where we live, these are our homes and every month we are at risk of losing them. This is done by condo conversions, removing our senior parks (55+) status and trying to subvert cities’ rent controls.
Golden State Manufactured-Home Owners League had been a major voice at the California Legislature in Sacramento. We also help in speaking with local government officials.
Residents have benefited and are living under the protection of laws sponsored by GSMOL for nearly half a century, which are incorporated into the California Civil Code as the mobile home residency law (MRL).
Member leaders make phone calls to legislators whom they helped vote into office were and are, an inspiration to those legislators to support the needed legislation and to provide a better affordable lifestyle in manufactured home communities throughout California.
GSMOL annual dues help lobby state elected officials. Mobile home community leaders continually speak with local governments to preserve and protect our lifestyle and our affordable housing stock. This is why GSMOL needs you as a member and a supporter for your lifestyle.
