Peggy Dailey

Peggy Dailey of Sonoma, Calif., born February 4, 1948, died August 2, 2009.
Peggy was born in South Bend, Ind., to Fredrick (Blackie) and Alice Mann. Peggy lived in Garden Grove, Calif., from 1950 to 1971 when she moved to Sonoma, Calif. where she remained until 2002. She moved to Vancouver, Wash. to be with her daughter for a year then to Reno, Nev. where she currently resided. Peggy owned and operated Dailey Floors with Roger Dailey in Sonoma, Calif., until Peggy opened Peggys’ Interiors. Peggy met so many wonderful people in Sonoma and made some life-long friends during this time. After leaving Sonoma, Peggy continued her career in the floor, wall and window business for the remainder of her life.

Peggy loved to be with people and enjoyed helping others; she volunteered for many different organizations such as her children and grandchildren’s schools, Floor Covering Associations, Vintage Festival, Salute to the Arts, Soroptimist, Hot August Nights, Red Hat Ladies, Crab Feeds; too many to list. She was always the first to raise her hand to help offer her services to anyone who needed them and be there for those who asked.

Peggy made friends wherever she went and people always commented on her wonderful smile and contagious, beautiful laugh. She had a smile on her face all her life even when times were tough. Peggy enjoyed telling stories, and those of us who know her knew that we had to “fight” to get in a word. This is one of many reasons why we loved her so much.

Peggy was loved by many people, including but not limited to: Charles Miller, the love of her life; her children; Charlie Dailey and Shawn (Dailey) Hanlon; and their families, Shannon Dailey, Robert Hanlon, grandchildren Cameron and Olivia Dailey and Justin, and Alison Hanlon; her sister and dearest friend Kathy Goheen and her family; her “babies” Gidget and Toby; her sisters Susan Papka and Ginger Hardy and their families; her best friends, besides her daughter, Shelly and Mike Gillean and Danny and Cheryl Cannou; plus other friends such as, Leaha, Lynette, Gail, Mikie, John, Willie-P, and many more.

Peggy asked that we have a celebration of life party in lieu of a service or funeral. She asked that everyone who loved her to attend if they could. We will sing, dance, eat a wonderful spaghetti meal planned by Peggy and toast a glass of wine to her. The celebration will be held at the Veterans building in Sonoma, on Sunday August 30 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. We ask everyone to bring a bottle of wine in memory of Peggy or if you prefer, a dessert. In lieu of flowers, please send your favorite story or photo of Peggy to [email protected] or[email protected].

Peggy we will miss you, your beautiful smile and wonderful laugh!!! We love you!!!
