SolarCraft, one of the most experienced solar energy contractors and retailers in California, has opened a new office in Sonoma. The thriving business started in Novato 24 years ago and has since installed more than 4,300 energy systems in the North Bay. SolarCraft’s executives decided to expand because they have already installed 350 solar systems in Sonoma County.
“The new Sonoma office strengthens our presence in the Sonoma Valley and reflects our continuing growth in the area – it brings us closer to our clients,” said Bill Stewart, who is SolarCraft’s president and co-founded the firm with Dennis Nuttman. “We already have a significant work force that lives in Sonoma or in the Valley. We hope to have six people working out of the new office.”
The company’s work can be seen all over the Sonoma Valley, most prominently at two of Sonoma’s most popular wineries. SolarCraft installed a 124 kW solar electric system at the Jacuzzi Family Vineyards last year. Going solar is part of Jacuzzi’s commitment to environmentally conscious business and sustainable farming practices. Nearby is Cline Cellars Vineyards, another example of SolarCrafts’s fine work.
“SolarCraft worked with us every step of the way and we are very happy with the form and function of the panels,” said Peggy Cline, Director of Operations at Cline. “The winery is eliminating huge energy bills, flat-lining our operating budget for energy costs and improving air quality by reducing 690,000 lbs. of noxious greenhouse gases per year. We were able to take advantage of a state rebate incentive and federal tax credits.”
