Editor: I’m a proud parent of two students at El Verano Elementary School. Ever since my son Alex started school there, I saw the needs that the school had and I began to get involved. Since then I have given countless hours and have encouraged and motivated parents to support the school. I have also attended many school board meetings and have offered my help any way that I can. I did all that with the hopes that it would help with all the budget cuts the school district was making to save money and programs.
Today I realize that the situation the school district faces with the budget is beyond what I can do alone or with parents of El Verano School. I realize that it will take a village to maintain the quality of education here in Sonoma Valley. I believe we can do that by supporting and making sure Measure H passes on November 2. I urge all people in Sonoma Valley to stop and think what kind of community we would like to see in years to come. I personally want to see an educated community and will continue to do whatever I can to make sure everyone, regardless of who they are, gets a chance to have a quality education.
