Edotor: The Sonoma County Democratic Party has endorsed Mayor Steve Barbose and City Councilmember Ken Brown for Sonoma City Council in the November 2 election.
“Ken Brown and Steve Barbose have shown true leadership on Sonoma’s City Council,” said Stephen Gale, Chair of the Sonoma County Democratic Party. “While other cities have struggled to maintain financial stability, Sonoma has not only a balanced budget, but a budget surplus. Both candidates are supported by leaders in the environmental and business communities, and are committed to preserving Sonoma’s cultural heritage and small-town character.”
Steve Barbose is Sonoma’s mayor and has served on the city council since 2006, as well as on the planning commission and boards of local nonprofit organizations. His professional experience as an attorney and mediator has benefitted the city council. He is a proponent of sustainable economic development and sound fiscal management and advocates for continued improvement of Sonoma’s water conservation effort.
Ken Brown is a devoted public servant who has been elected to the Sonoma City Council three times and served on the boards of numerous local nonprofits. He is known as a strong leader and consensus builder, and as a responsive representative who listens to all voices. Socially progressive and fiscally conservative, he has helped Sonoma maintain a healthy budget. He has worked to protect affordable housing for seniors and is a steadfast supporter of local business.
