Bill Dardon, a.k.a. Mr. Turkey, is out and about, collecting money for his annual holiday turkey giveaway.
Started 20 years ago as a way to honor his dad, a man who Dardon says taught him the true meaning of giving, the turkey drive has been a way to give back over the course of many years. As always, Dardon’s goal is to raise enough money to give away some 1,500 turkeys. Safeway converts the funds collected into “turkey-only” gift cards, which are tucked into baskets given away by F.I.S.H. Dardon welcomes any and all donations which can be brought to his office at 34 West Spain Street up until Friday, Dec. F17 at 5 p.m. Please make checks payable to Safeway. The F.I.S.H. basket distribution and toy giveaway will be held Saturday, December 18 at Hanna Boys Center.
