October’s Breast Cancer Awareness month is winding down and now it’s time to take real action. Awareness is good, but prevention is better. Yes, that means you. If you are a man, give this to a woman. Women, check this out.
Did you know that there are things you can do every day to help lower your risk of breast cancer? Do you ever wonder why so many women today are getting breast cancer? Think it could have something to do with our environment and the foods we eat? Lack of proper nutritional protection? If so, then wouldn’t it make sense that if we made changes in these areas of our lifestyle that we could reduce our risk? The reality today is that we need to engage in a lifestyle of prevention. Period. By making choices that reflect repair and protection from the harmful influences in our environment we help reduce our risk for disease. You with me?
So what’s a woman to do? Well, every time you eat or drink, you are either feeding disease or fighting it. So how about starting there? Each time you eat, ask yourself whether or not your feeding disease or fighting it. Keep a daily food log with a percentage score of feeding disease verses fighting disease. Your goal is to achieve an 80/20 ratio of fighting disease to feeding disease. Remember to keep in mind quality. Organic foods from the earth are your best bet. Here are a few other tips for you to incorporate into your breast cancer prevention daily routine.
• Optimize your vitamin D levels. A potent cancer fighter, Vitamin D has been proven to enter cancer cells and trigger cell death. Best way to get Vitamin D is exposing your skin to safe amounts of sunshine every day.
• Normalize insulin levels by avoiding sugar, especially fructose. Also avoid fake and processed sugars and sweeteners. Sugar feeds cancer.
• Get plenty of natural Vitamin A. Best food sources are organic egg yolks, beef or chicken liver, colorful vegetables.
• Drink a quart of organic, green vegetable juice daily. You can do it!
• Supplement with high quality animal based Omega 3 fatty acids (such as Krill oil), Curcumin, Protandim (nrf2 activator), and Vitamin D and Iodine as monitored by your health care professional.
• Avoid exposure to xenoestrogens. These come from plastics – phthalates and BPA. They mimic natural estrogen which can be breast cancer promoting.
• Avoid charring your meats. Charcoaled or flame broiled meat (especially blackened) has been linked to breast cancer. As well, Acrylamide, a carcinogen created when starchy foods are baked, has been found to increase breast cancer risk. So think twice before eating those fries.
• Avoid unfermented soy products. They are high in plant estrogens, and in some studies, works with human estrogen to increase breast cancer proliferation.
• Exercise regularly, working up a sweat. High intensity, short duration work outs with lots of stretching and breathing in the warm up and cool down.
• Eat Cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, and Brussels sprouts, onions, and garlic. These “stinky” vegetables contain sulfur, aids in production of our body’s natural antioxidants.
• Avoid processed, packaged foods….if it came from the ground or had eyes it’s a winner!
• Avoid heating or freezing foods in plastics.
• Add coconut to your diet, especially coconut oil.
• Learn to practice lymphatic massage and self-examination on a regular basis.
• Take PROTANDIM, an herbal supplement that activates our bodies own antioxidant enzymes. The best form of antioxidant protection available, according to many scientific studies.
• Begin making changes now, each day counts, and remember, every time you eat or drink, you are either feeding disease or fighting it!
