Commuter Alert! (edited version)

Editor:

We have been informed that an eight-dog doggie day-care owner is requesting a Use Permit and Design Review for a full service dog kennel for up to 50 dogs for boarding, doggie day-care, grooming, and training. The hours of the facility would be 7 AM to 7 PM (later in summer) seven days a week. Five full time and up to three part-time employees are proposed.

The proposed kennel expansion is at the intersection of a rural residential lane and Highway 12, between Oakmont Drive and Melita Road.

The traffic on Highway 12 simply cannot handle an additional 100+ trips a day. There are times when we cannot exit our road because traffic is backed up from Melita. Completing a left turn toward Sonoma can take upwards of eight minutes.

If you do not want to have your commute to and from the direction of Sonoma to Santa Rosa via Highway 12 take longer and be more treacherous, please consider attending the Sonoma County Board of Zoning Adjustments public hearing at 1:00 p.m. on March 15, at the Permit and Resource Management Dept., 2550 Ventura Ave, Santa Rosa 95403, or contact Melinda Grosch at 565.2397, or via e-mail to Melinda.Grosch@sonoma-county.org.

Please: No more commercial businesses along this heavily traveled two-lane corridor!

Thank you for your consideration.
