Lighting the way

Hand-decorated luminaria, dedicated to cancer victims and survivors, line the track in a poignant interlude at Relay For Life, the 24-hour walkathon beginning on Saturday, August 3, 10 a.m. at the high school track. The event opens as cancer survivors (anyone who has ever been diagnosed with cancer) walk or wheelchair the first lap. This emotional moment gives way to a festive, camp-out atmosphere, with live music, games and vendor tables. At dusk, the candles are lit for another period of tribute and reflection, as walkers continue around the circuit through the night.
