London's family tree

Posted on January 22, 2015 by Sonoma Valley Sun

A year ago, the 400-year-old “Jack’s Oak” was thought to be on its last limb, and a wake of sorts was held for the majestic tree that has come to symbolize the natural beauty of Jack London State Historic Park.

As it turns out, the tree is not immediately threatened by disease, a reprieve that inspired “Jack’s Oak — One Year Later: A Celebration,” on Sunday, February 1. Informational tours, naturalist-lead hikes and planting of a seedling from Jack’s Oak taken at last year’s ceremony. 10 a.m. $10 donation requested. $10 parking. 2400 London Ranch Road, Glen Ellen. 707.938.5216.
