The Lighting of the Historic Sonoma Plaza takes place around 5 PM. The festivities start at 4 PM with family friendly activities. Light food will be served compliments of Williams-Sonoma, the Lodge, Sonoma Market, and Rossi’s 1906. After the lights are lit Transcendence Theatre Company will perform.

In keeping with all traditions on the Square, bring your own booze and for this evening, dress warm. It’s free. The event will wrap up between 7 and 8 PM.

“Visit” Tokaj, Hungary after the lighting and enjoy Hungarian food, wine and cultural traditions. It’s a fundraiser for the Sonoma Sister Cities winemaker exchange, where young winemakers from Hungary come to Sonoma and Sonomans go to Tokaj to develop their winemaking skills. I’ll be there getting my goulash on.

Learn more here. The event is from 6PM-9PM at Burlingame Hall. $50 for adults, $40 for Sister Cities members, and $25 for kids under 12. Buy your tickets here.

Boost your Thanksgiving skill set at a free technique class at Williams-Sonoma. Every Sunday this month they are educating those of us who can really use it (and I can really use it) on all things Thanksgiving, from planning your table to making a turkey, and of course, the highlights of the show for me – sides and dessert. The best part? It’s all FREE!

On Sunday, Williams-Sonoma will teach you how to prepare classic sides like stuffing and more interesting, seasonal vegetable dishes based on Thanksgiving tradition with an inventive twist. You’ll get a 10% discount to use in store that day and you’ll be able to taste what is prepared, all the more reason to go! Registration is required. Call 939-8974. 12PM-1PM, 605 Broadway, Sonoma.
