Many folks visit or relocate to Wine Country with the dream of making their own wine. But, for only a lucky few, does that dream really come true.

However, that dream can come true (kinda) with wine blending experiences at local wineries.

Ravenswood is known for their motto “no wimpy wines” and  guests can create their own “California field blend,” using Zinfandel, Petite Sirah and Carignane grapes, and receiving guidance by staff.

After perfecting a blend, participants can take home their own 375-ml bottle (Appointment only, $65 per person, 933-2349, [email protected]; ravenswoodwinery.com)

For the history-geek wanna-be winemaker on your list, Buena Vista Winery just launched their “Be the Count Blending Experience.” Guests are guided on a blending experience in the “Cave of Curiousity” (costumes encouraged to fit in with the 19th-century theme of the history winemaking facility).

Guests create three different blends, select their favorite, customize their own label, and leave with their own bottle, with the opportunity to order more of the custom blend. (Appointment only, $100 per person or $80 for wine club, 800-926-1266; buenavistawinery.com)
