Garden geeks and bubble heads unite!
This weekend Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards will host Bubbles & Blooms, a celebration of spring, summer, food, wine and all things garden and flower.
It’s a perfect pairing, as there are two things I absolutely love about spring and summer in Sonoma Valley: working in my garden and rewarding my hard work with a glass of locally made sparkling wine as I enjoy the fruits of my labor (literally, I am growing strawberries).
The Carneros-based producer of sparkling wine will be serving its signature bubbles between remarkable floral displays and garden installations.
They are also offering seminars and hands-on activities to help educate and inspire fellow flower fanatics and gardening gurus. Highlights include:
- Floral arranging with Margot Shaw, Editor-in-Chief of Flower Magazine and Kiana Underwood of Tulipina.
- Container gardening seminar with Deborah Thomas of the locally owned Sonoma Mission Gardens (I’m a container gardener will be there!).
- Hands-on walk through the vineyards with Gloria Ferrer’s Vice President of Production, Mike Crumly.
- When to plant your vegetable garden demos
- Classes on hand wreath and lei making
They will also have a flower market selling all things floral, from flowers to gardening tools. Attendees will also be entered in a raffle for all kinds of goodies.
Additionally, Chef Beth Sogaard will be serving up tasty morsels, including lobster stuffed mini potatoes (you know where I’ll be…wherever those are). Live music will be provided by the Ragtime Sullivan Duo.
Bubbles & Blooms is Saturday, April 9, 12-4PM. Tickets start at $70 for winery members and the rest of us can get tickets for $80 with the code LOCALSBB (usually $90). Those under 21 can get tickets for $55.
