The entire campus of the Sonoma Community Center will be buzzing with creativity and art-making on Saturday, September 8 with a free open house. Hands-on activities and a preview of the center’s upcoming classes — in clay, printmaking, fiber arts, dance, Pilates, yoga and more — will be offered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All ages are welcome.

An unveiling ceremony will reveal the Center’s Community Quilt, a community project spearheaded by the Fiber Art Department,  at 10:30 a.m.  The Secret Garden will be on show, a serene, secluded area to celebrate special occasions and ceremonies.

The center’s new fall class schedule will be highlighted, with instructors on hand to introduce the art and cultural programming that makes the Community Center a special place for life-long learning. Scholarships are available for youth and adult programming.

In the Rotary Kitchen (a commercial kitchen space available to rent), there will be tastings of artisan cheese; and the Java Wagon will be selling hot and cold drinks outdoors along with pastries and treats.

Hearts Without Borders & Miss Molly’s Ballet will host dance activities; Julia Carcich will lead Pilates Mat class; Regina Gregor offers yoga and the Center’s staff will be leading printmaking, ceramics, and fiber activities for youth and adults.

The center, at 276 E. Napa St., is one of the town’s most historic buildings, designed by the same architect as City Hall. The mission of the Sonoma Community Center is brightening lives through the arts, education, and community-centered activities.
