Through September 29: Springs Creative exhibition by local artists.

September 18, 25: Art Sprout, a child-adult arts program for ages two to four, made possible by a grant from Sonoma County Vintners Foundation.

October 13: Opening Reception for “Rise from the Ashes.” Thanks to a grant provided by The Creative Sonoma Arts Response Grants for Organizations, ArtEscape produced a series of collaborative art and writing events in recognition of the community’s resilience and spirit. Painted birdhouses and written notes will be displayed in front of ArtEscape on Highway 12, then distributed during a celebration on October 13 from 5 to 7. Exhibition displayed through November 10.

Arts Guild of Sonoma

October 3-29: Featured Artist of the Month is Suzanne Phillips, who enjoys constructively building an illusion of depth and tension beneath the surface of her canvases. Opening reception Friday October 5, 5 to 7.

October 4: Participating in Sonoma Art Walk from 5:30 to 7:30, free to the public.

October 4: Monthly First Thursdays evening art walk, 5:30 to 7:30. Art to be displayed throughout the business on the Plaza, all free to the public.

Continuing: Figure Arts Open Studio: weekly drop-in classes, uninstructed life-drawing sessions to draw or paint from a live model, Monday evenings 6:00 to 8:30, or Tuesday mornings 10:00 to 12:30.

September 29: Opening of Sonoma Fire Stories event, 6 to 8.

Related: Thanks to funding from Sonoma Clean Power, Sonoma Community Center is offering those affected by the October 2017 North Bay Firestorm scholarships to fine arts classes and youth ceramics classes. To apply for a scholarship, call the office at (707) 938-4626 x1.

Sonoma Valley Museum of Art

Continuing in October: Natural Affinity: California Women Sculptors in the Landscape, a public art installation in the Sonoma Plaza through October 21. Free tours from the art museum beginning at 11:45 AM on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

September 29: Sonoma Fire Stories -From Fire, Love Rises: Stories Shared from the Artist Community. 14 artists and 19 writers share their experiences of the October 2017 fires in Sonoma in the form of bronze, ceramics, new media, paintings, print making, poetry, and prose. Free resilience event from 11 to 1. Opening reception 6 to 8.

September 29-January 6: Celebrating SVMA’s 20th anniversary with collections of 20 art enthusiasts, Opening reception 6 to 8.

Concurrently: “LOVE” sculpture in the Plaza by Laura Kimpton, in place through January 6.

October 4: Participating in Sonoma Art Walk 5:30 to 7:30, free to the public.

Continuing: Art classes in pastels, watercolors, art journaling and other creative adult workshops, some in partnership with Santa Rosa Junior College’s continuing education programs.
