Denton Shields, left, takes the keys to his new car — a 2012 Fiat donated to Sonoma Valley High School’s Grad Night party by Scott Silveira of Silveira Chevrolet.
The excited teen said he went to the party hoping to win the car, staying up until 5 a.m. for the big finale. Shields will attend California State Maritime Academy in Vallejo this fall, and wasn’t going to have a car to come home on weekends.
Silveira has carried on the dealership’s tradition — begun by Bob Nobles and continued by Dan Roseland — of providing a ‘new’ used car each year to the after-party that keeps grads safe and sober following the official commencement ceremony.
