Drawing from writings of the time, historian and writer Ida Rae Egli, reveals the lives of Native Peoples through stories, accounts and diaries of historic women of color, a surprisingly diverse female population in early California.
The descendant of Gold Rush immigrants, Egli (above) is editor of No Rooms of Their Own: Women Writers of Early California, 1848-1869, and Women of the Gold Rush: The New Penelope and Other Stories.
