With canceled vacations behind us and a holiday weekend and summer on the horizon, many travelers are looking to take their first trips in more than a year. Those planning road trips can turn to a number of mobile apps aimed at easing their driving experience.

Among those is a new mobile toll payment solution for your smartphone. Uproad lets drivers pay tolls, budget for trips and conveniently manage their toll payment account on the go in one simple app. The app covers toll payment on 13 roads in California, eliminating the need for a toll agency account and transponder, and giving drivers the freedom to cruise toll roads without the worry of receiving a toll violation.

Drivers download the app, easily sign up, then use their mobile devices to pay as they go on toll roads and bridges throughout California and the greater U.S. App features include phone alerts, which let you know when you’re on a toll road and how much you can expect to pay. Another convenient feature is a Trip Calculator, allowing you to calculate the cost of a road trip before you even begin your drive. The app also allows you to easily track business and personal expenses separately.

Uproad is a long-awaited solution for drivers. An Uproad survey revealed that people want more transparency and flexibility when it comes to paying tolls and that they especially dislike when surprise bills from toll agencies arrive in the mail. Uproad solves both problems.

  • 43% of those surveyed said they’d like to pay for tolls without the need for a toll authority transponder, cash or receipt of a future bill in the mail.
  • 47% said they want a mobile toll payment method that shows them a list of toll costs, payments and dates within the time they choose.
  • 52% said an important feature of a toll payment solution is that it allows them to easily add multiple vehicles to their mobile tolling account. Uproad allows up to 10 vehicles on one account.

Uproad will soon offer coverage on most toll roads nationwide, finally giving drivers the ability to pay tolls with one tolling method in multiple states. For each toll payment processed, you pay a small fee. Frequent toll road drivers may want to subscribe to the $1.99 Premium monthly membership, which offers lower fees.

Apps such as Uproad make road travel easier by providing a convenient way for drivers to pay tolls and avoid toll agency penalties. Start planning your road trip today by downloading the app on Google Play or App Store.
