Fire guts Larson tasting room

An evening fire Wednesday at Larson Family Winery in Sonoma caused catastrophic damage to the winery’s unoccupied tasting room. No injuries were reported in the 9:30 p.m. blaze.

Schell-Vista Fire units were dispatched to a reported structure fire. A water tender from Kenwood was also part of the response team.

Speaking for Larson today, Johanna Holm said the barn-turned-tasting room suffered “irreparable damage” and will be closed until further notice. “We are devastated by the loss of our business and priceless historic Sonoma Rodeo and Larson Family memorabilia.”

Investigations into the cause are underway, she said.

The adjacent barrel room and winemaking facilities were left unharmed.

Schell-Vista Fire Department is within a quarter-mile of the Millerick Road winery. “We are so thankful for their prompt and courageous response to the fire,” Holm said. “We are so grateful for the friends, neighbors, winery peers and organizations who have reached out to us this morning.  We are lucky to live in a community like Sonoma.”
