Posted on April 7, 2022 by Sonoma Valley Sun

Evelyn Quintero, a 5th grader at Sassarini Elementary School, earned first place at the Sonoma County Spelling Bee and will now contend for the state championship.

The State Spelling Bee will be held on Saturday, May 14, at the San Joaquin County Office of Education, in Stockton.

Evelyn is the daughter of Alfonso and Paloma Quintero and has three siblings. She has attended Sassarini since kindergarten, where her favorite subject is math. She enjoys spending time with her friends at recess and playing on a flag football team.

When asked about the upcoming State Spelling Bee Championship, she  explained that she is excited and nervous at the same time.

“Congratulations to Evelyn on behalf of the entire Sonoma Valley Unified School District,” district admin said with the announcement. “We wish you great success at the State Spelling Bee  Championship.”
