Funk Art show closing soon

Posted on April 11, 2022 by Sonoma Valley Sun

Satire and irreverence, expressed with ceramic assemblies and found-art robots. The exhibition “Out of Our Minds: Clayton Bailey & Tony Natsoulas,” is a survey of works from two key figures of the Funk Art movement, at the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art.

The show closes on Sunday, April 24.

“Funk art’s irreverent, unorthodox style will be a treat for our audiences, and reminds us not to take art, and ourselves, too seriously.” One example, above: Natsoulas’ “How to get Whipped Cream on a Pie (Portrait of Rube Goldberg),” a work of ceramic, wood, found metal table and found pipe.

The gallery is open Wed-Sun., 11am to 5pm. 551 Broadway, Sonoma. Svma.org
