Beauty Ranch beckons for annual London Park gala

Posted on September 1, 2022 by Sonoma Valley Sun

“Once upon a time in a not-so-distant forest lived an ancient redwood tree who silently presided over her forested sanctuary.”  So begins the story to be told at Jack London State Historic Park’s 2022 Gala on Sept. 24.

The magical evening will bring to life the park’s beloved Grandmother Tree.  Though she is estimated to be nearly 2,000 years old, she’s filled with the wit and wisdom that comes from a lifetime of growing with the forest and overcoming nature’s challenges.  On this night, she and her woodland family will face their greatest challenge yet.

“Jack London Park Partners’ annual gala is our most important fundraiser of the year, keeping the park accessible and thriving for all to enjoy,” said Matt Leffert, executive director.

The gala will begin in the Eucalyptus grove, where colorful forest nymphs will welcome guests to the enchanted environment. Later, in the Winery Ruins, dinner by Elaine Bell Catering will be served.

The evening’s entertainment – with special musical arrangements by Emmy-award winner Rita Abrams – will celebrate the past, present and future of what Jack London called his “Ranch of Good Intentions,” also known as “Beauty Ranch.”

The “Once Upon a Time” Gala is the creation of Gregangelo’s Velocity Entertainment with hands-on direction of former Sonoma Alcalde Marcelo Defreitas.
