Confronting the ‘S’ word

In recognition of Suicide Awareness and Prevention Month, Hanna Center presents a free screening of the powerful documentary “The S Word” on September 27. 

The evening includes a panel discussion hosted by Stefanie Smith, Hanna Center chief clinical officer. The goal is to help reduce the stigma surrounding suicide, spread awareness and help prevent other families from losing their loved ones through suicide.

Detroit-born filmmaker Lisa Klein lost both her brother and father to suicide, compelling her to create this film and encourage conversation on this critical topic.

The S Word is the recipient of the 2017 Substance Abuse and Mental Health Association Voice Award.
