Boots and buckles for SVHS Boosters

Posted on January 5, 2023 by Sonoma Valley Sun

Get ready to kick up your heels and enjoy an evening supporting our high school students at the Sonoma Valley High School Boosters Boots and Buckles event on Friday, February 10, from 5-11pm at the Sonoma Veterans Building.

Boosters Fundraising Chair Catarina Landry, a high school parent and a new member of the Sonoma Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees, sees this event as something the school and the community can both benefit from after the pandemic.

“The community deserves one heck of a party! This event is just that and supports the students of Sonoma Valley High School…it is a win-win. I am really excited for everyone,” says Landry. “As a parent, I see this as a way to refocus on the students, and an opportunity to show them we believe in them through our support of the many wonderful programs that Boosters helps fund. This is a great opportunity for the community to get involved and we look forward to seeing everyone there!”

The western-themed evening includes barbecue from Lombardi’s in Petaluma and drinks. Music from Trainwreck Junction (above) and Rick and Lisa Binkley will be the evening’s entertainment.

Tiffany Briggs, Boosters membership coordinator, is assisting with the event planning and sees the event as a reset after a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

“We are looking forward to a fun and successful event to support kids at Sonoma Valley High School. Most funds go to sports teams, but each team does its own fundraising as well. And approaches Boosters, we try to support,” explains Briggs. “This event replaces the annual Crab Feed, due to the uncertainty about availability of crab. Boosters leadership is changing things up and is looking forward to getting this off the ground again.”

“We have been able to do a lot during these last three years thanks to Republic of Thrift and community support, including supporting and funding the new lacrosse teams,” explains Briggs. “Boosters supports sports programs, as well as many other student activities.  Boosters funds also help with printing of the Dragon’s Tale, the high school newspaper, Drama Department productions and Dragon Day t-shirts. Each student receives a t-shirt on the first day of school.”

Tickets are $75 per person and can be purchased online at www.svhsboosters.org. Sponsorships are also available and details are also available on the website.
