Sonoma Valley Sun Newspaper Now Accepting Tax-Deductible Donations!

The Sonoma Valley Sun will resume twice-monthly publication in June, after a three-month hiatus following the unexpected death of its devoted Owner, Publisher and Editor, Val Robichaud, a beloved member of the Sonoma Valley media community. It now welcomes tax deductible donations to underwrite it, thanks to fiscal sponsorship by the nonprofit Inquiring Systems Inc.

The reimagined paper will be locally owned and operated not-for-profit, maintaining Val’s legacy and serving as “the community’s independent voice,” the Sun’s role in the Valley since its founding. Four friends and associates have committed to carrying the paper forward, hopefully bigger, better and stronger than ever.

Here is our editorial team:

– David Bolling, Editor, who brings his 45 years of editorial and journalism experience, including most recently eight years as Publisher and Editor of Valley of the Moon Magazine, and 13 years as Editor of the Sonoma Index-Tribune and Sonoma magazine.

Larry Barnett, former Sonoma Mayor and  City Council member, current chair of the Sonoma City Planning Commission and a retired local business owner, has been contributing to and supporting the Sun for nearly 20 years.

– Anna Pier, associated with The Sun since 2006, was director of the nonprofit CommonBond, dedicated to bridging the cultures of the Valley; a founding teacher of the dual immersion bilingual  program at Flowery School; and citizen advocate in the Springs community.

– Alyssa Conder, Sun Arts editor, community builder, founder of Sonoma Valley Local, and winner of the 2020 Spirit of Sonoma Award.

The four collectively represent more than 150 years of living in the Sonoma Valley.

The re-launched Sonoma Valley Sun will incorporate numerous community voices, and address an agenda of community concerns that will help inform public policy on a wide range of key issues and subjects of widespread interest.

For more information, email David, Larry, Anna or Alyssa @sonomasun.com.
