Rotary Club of Sonoma Valley announces new club President Charles Goodwin

Posted on July 17, 2024 by Sonoma Sun

The Rotary Club of Sonoma Valley has named Charles Goodwin as club president for its 2024-2025 Rotary year.  Goodwin joined the club in 2021 and has previously led the club’s communications and governance committees.

Since its founding in 1946, our Rotary club has worked to help improve the quality of life in the Sonoma Valley community in all sorts of ways.  During the past twelve months, our club awarded more than $102,000 in grants to local nonprofit and educational groups throughout Sonoma Valley, including Altimira Middle School, Comida Para Todos – Food for All, Sonoma Overnight Support, the Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance, and Sweetwater Spectrum.  We look forward to continuing both our impact and reach into how we as Rotarians can serve our community.

The Rotary Club of Sonoma Valley has several activities planned for this coming Rotary year, including its annual St. Patrick’s Day “Luck of the Irish Raffle and Dinner” that funds its community grants and various community improvement projects.  The club plans to continue partnering with other community organizations, like the Sonoma Ecology Center and Jack London State Historic Park, to support hands-on service projects.  New focus areas for this year include sponsoring the Dolly Parton Imagination Library for preschool aged children in Sonoma Valley and to expand their gleaning efforts in Sonoma to help address food insecurity in our community.

One of the great strengths of Rotary is the connections we make within the community, across the country, and around the world.  So, we also continue to look forward to supporting projects that improve conditions beyond Sonoma Valley.  The club is currently raising funds to help expand the Gardens for Health program in Rwanda and is planning a project to help address educational needs at a remote school in Mexico.

The Rotary Club of Sonoma Valley meets at noon on Wednesdays at the Sonoma Golf Club. Visitors are welcome. Contact John Coulston at [email protected] to attend.
