Voice of Bart Simpson Comes to Sebastiani

Posted on July 23, 2024 by Sonoma Sun

The voice of Bart Simpson, one of the most recognized television personalities in the known universe, will appear in Sonoma, at the Sebastiani Theatre, on Saturday, July 27, in conjunction with the showing of, “In Search of Fellini,” an enchanting coming of age film, written and produced by Bart’s voice, otherwise known as Nancy Cartwright. In a special promotion, 25 free tickets will be given away.

Cartwright, who wrote the film based on her own early adult experiences, will appear on the Sebastiani stage following the screening for a conversation about being one of the world’s most successful voice-over actors.

Cartwright voices seven Simpsons personalities, not just Bart, and she has won a Primetime Emmy award for Outstanding Voice-Over Performance, and an Annie Award, for Best Voice Acting in the Field of Animation. She has countless voice over segments on YouTube, including one in which she voices all seven Simpsons in one 40-second vocal eruption. Cartwright has the distinction of appearing in every Simpsons episode since the show was created 35 years ago. It is the longest running scripted series in television history.

Her acting credits go far beyond voice overs, and she has appeared in numerous television segments and feature films, and in 2000 she authored the definitive guide to her life, and the life of Bart Simpson, in the book, “My Life As A 10-Year-old Boy.”

Cartwright then adapted that book into a one-woman, multi-voiced play of the same name. In 2016, she launched a film and TV production company, called Spotted Cow Entertainment, which produced her first feature film project, “In Search of Fellini.”

The film stars Ksenia Solo, a Latvian-Canadian actor known for roles in the Acclaimed film Black Swan and numerous TV series including Lost Girl, Life Unexpected, Orphan Black and TURN: Washington’s Spies. Solo’s character, Lucy, is a girl isolated from the outer world by her neurotically-protective mother, and who becomes obsessed with the Italian film director Federico Felllini. That fixation inspires a solo and painfully innocent pilgrimage to Italy in search of the director. Cultural, linguistic and romantic adventures follow.

Cartwright will take to the stage for an extended conversation following the screening, which begins at 7 p.m. July 27. Tickets are available online at sebastianitheatre.com/movies-1 for $15, or $20 at the door. Free tickets will be given away to the first 25 who apply online by sending an email to [email protected]. Confirmations will come as replies.
