Teachers and District Moving Close to Agreement

The Sonoma Valley Unified School District Board voted to approve a Tentative Agreement (TA) between the District and the Valley of the Moon Teachers Association (VMTA). The TA between the two parties was reached during impasse negotiations. The Board will bring the complete Agreement and articles back at its next regularly scheduled meeting.

President Pro-Tem Celeste Winders reported out the action, which was taken in closed session on November 18, prior to the planned Board Study Session on school consolidation. The announcement was greeted with applause from the members of the community, gathered at the Board room for public comment before the upcoming Study Session. VMTA membership previously voted on a TA, but the Board did not take action on it. VMTA Co-President Dennis Housman stated that as the TA is a new proposal, it will need to be voted on by the members of the VMTA to be ratified.
