Tuesday will be brutally hot, but you know that already

A Heat Alert is in effect for Sonoma County from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday, June 21. If you’ve been outside today, you knew that: Sonoma at 11 am was already pushing 90.

High temperatures are forecast in the high 90s and low 100s. Santa Rosa is forecast to reach 104 degrees.

Sonoma Valley will drop slightly to the mid-90’s on Wednesday.

These weather conditions can cause heat stroke and worsen chronic medical conditions, leading to severe complications and death. Sonoma County Deputy Health Officer Dr. Kismet Baldwin urges residents to take simple steps to stay cool and help prevent heat-related illnesses.

“Extreme heat can pose health risks, especially for older adults, young children and those with chronic medical conditions such as heart, breathing or lung conditions,” said Dr. Baldwin. “There are many things we can do to reduce heat-related problems and stay safe during hot summer days.”
