Wellness Faire at Sonoma Developmental Center
Sonoma Developmental Center will hold its annual Wellness Faire on Wednesday, Aug. 1 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. inside the facility gymnasium and on the lawn area (at Harney Circle).
The event is sponsored by the Wellness Committee, which is made up of SDC employees, and will feature live music and informational booths sponsored by the Sonoma County Water Agency, Pacific Gas & Electric, Integrated Waste Management, the Environmental Protection Agency, the US Fish & Wildlife Federation, and other public entities. In addition, environmentally friendly vendor booths will offer organic & natural dyed clothing, soaps, oils, & potions, vitamins & healthy food products; massage therapy, and natural household products. Over 40 vendors will be present with live demonstrations beginning at 10:30 a.m. including yoga. The event is open to the public.
The Wellness Committee proudly continues to seek and provide reliable resources for those interested in obtaining information for products and services that may assist them in continuing to make healthy lifestyle choices and changes in their lives, as well as to improve their health, prevent disease, manage health problems and improve quality of life.
Faire goers will have the opportunity to learn about water conservation, electricity & natural gas conservation measures, utility rebate programs, recycling, land conservation, responsible gardening, alternative fuel, and the many things they can do to tread a little lighter on Mother Earth. All are welcome to come and see how to get involved with various organizations and learn to “be the change you wish to see in the world”. Sandwiches and a salad bar will be available for purchase during the event. There will also be a free raffle.

Green Drinks moves
to The Lodge
Green Drinks is moving to The Lodge. The third Green Drinks event will be held at The Lodge at Sonoma on Thursday, Aug. 2 at 6:30 p.m.
If you’re wondering what Green Drinks is, here’s the basic concept: people who are interested in a broad range of environmental topics choose a time and public place to meet regularly and share ideas over a cocktail (or non-alcoholic beverage of your choice). The format is generally very informal, and it’s a great chance to mingle with like-minded souls.
This social gathering is a regular event happening every first Thursday of the month in Sonoma. The last two meetings have been well attended at the Sonoma Community Center.
Green Drinks was founded in London in 1989 and is now active in 241 cities all over the world. The Green Drinks in Sonoma is organized by Green Living Sonoma, a general contracting firm that specializes in green building and consulting in the Sonoma Valley. Please RSVP to hetty@glsonoma.com with the number of people if you plan on attending. There is no cost to attend, but you are responsible for purchasing your own food and beverages.
The next Green Drinks is on Thursday, Aug. 2, 6:30 p.m. at The Lodge at Sonoma, 1325 Broadway Street, in the main lobby bar. You can find out more about Green Drinks at www.greendrinks.org, and get more information about Green Living Sonoma at www.greenlivingsonoma.com.
