Sonoma General Plan Update Land Use Workshop on January 30

The City of Sonoma invites the public to a General Plan Update, a Land Use Workshop on Thursday, January 30th, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Vintage House, located at 264 First Street East.

This workshop is a valuable opportunity for community members to learn about and provide feedback on proposed land use changes in Sonoma, following guidance from the City Council and Planning Commission this past fall. These include proposed changes for the Sebastiani Winery property on 4th Street East, two properties on Napa Road and a church property on West Spain Street. Requests and proposals for additional land use changes may be forthcoming.

Land use regulations dictate what activities property owners are permitted to have on each parcel of land within the city limits. Current land uses include designations like “commercial,” “residential” (from low to high density), “mixed-use” (combining residential and commercial uses), “agricultural,” and more. Each designation includes development standards.

At the workshop, attendees will get an overview of these proposed updates, gain insight into the next steps in the General Plan update process, and be able to share their thoughts and questions with City staff and planners.

More details about the workshop are coming soon. For more information and to sign up for email updates about the General Plan Update, visit https://sonomacity.generalplan.org.
