This year’s fundraiser proved to be La Luz’s best yet, breaking every previous record with a total amount raised of $180,000 ($30,000 more than last year). “Noche de Luna is La Luz’s signature fundraising event; with this fiesta we raise a little under half of our operating budget,” said Ellen LaBruce, director of the La Luz Center. The fundraiser took place at the Sonoma Barracks, with a theme of “early California,” when it was still Mexican territory. The entertainment included a performance from a traditional Azteca dance troupe, followed by two hours of mariachi music.
The La Luz Center serves over 1400 families in the Sonoma Valley and has operated since 1985.
