To launch of its new capacity building grants program, Sonoma Valley Fund will host an informational meeting on Tuesday, August 26, at The Grange Hall from 3 to 4 p.m.
This multi-year grants program will provide funding and technical assistance to organizations interested in committing time, energy and innovative thinking to assess and plan for increased organizational effectiveness.
Selected organizations will have the opportunity to participate in a facilitated learning cohort, receive consultation in capacity-building and an organizational assessment, support in developing a capacity-building plan, and initial funding of $5,000 to be used at the grantee’s discretion.
Sonoma Valley Fund recognizes and supports nonprofits currently addressing the unmet health needs of our most vulnerable populations as outlined in the Portrait of Sonoma County report.
Since its inception in 2007, Sonoma Valley Fund and Community Foundation Sonoma County have awarded more than $2.7 million in grants and scholarships, including grants of over half a million dollars in 2013.
“We define health as a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being,” said Joshua Rymer, the fund’s executive director. “A healthy community is one that is committed to equity through continuously creating and improving both its physical and social environments.”
Organizations whose mission aligns with this definition and who value capacity building are encouraged to apply, he said.
If you are interested in attending this workshop, please email Karin Demarest (kdemarest@sonomacf.org) to register. This workshop is designed for staff and board members of organizations serving Sonoma Valley as well as their fundraising advocates and champions. It will help equip anyone interested in submitting a competitive application for a grant.
