A purple velvet (yes, it’s velvet!) label is decorated with the famed leg lamp of A Christmas Story fame, making this 2013 Old Vine Zinfandel an obvious choice for the movie fan in your life. In fact, it’s the first wine label in industry to have a velvet label.
The fruit is from Sonoma, Lodi and Napa and is aged for 14 months. It has deep fruit overtones with a warm, spiced (think vanilla) finish that big markets like in their Zin. Stonefruit, plum, fig and a bit of raisin balance the primary flavors of this charming inexpensive bottle. ($17.99 retail)
