Catie Geib of Kenwood was among a group of Cardinal Newman High School students on a work visit to the 15 de Septiembre School in El Tule, Nicaragua. The trip was under the auspices of the Sonoma-based nonprofit Seeds of Learning, which is dedicated to improving educational opportunities in the Americas.
To raise funds for a kitchen and new classroom – the urban school currently has just five classrooms for 475 students — Seeds of Learning is holding a drawing. The winning prize is $2,500 cash, with four runner-up cash prizes of $125 each. Tickets are available through August 10 for a $25 donation. The winning tickets will be drawn on August 14.
