Once again the holiday season is here. And once again all the goodies and celebratory feasts will soon make many of us feel as stout as Mrs. Claus. Plus, the strain of playing Santa often makes you feel as stressed-out as an overworked elf on a candy-cane high.
According to Lori Marioni of Body Technology, the best thing you can do this season to rid yourself of holiday pounds and greet the season with the jolly disposition of old Saint Nick is to give yourself the gift of endermologie.
“Endermologie treatments are deep-tissue massages that reduce fatty deposits,” explained Marioni. “My clients say they not only reduce cellulite but they feel rejuvenated after a session. They are great stress reducers.”
Marioni is Sonoma Valley’s only certified endermologist. She has developed a loyal list of clients. Many say the treatments have approved the appearance of their legs and thighs. Some report dropping two pant sizes. And many say the series of one-hour treatments also increases their energy, circulation and is a great stress-reducer.
“Many of my first clients still come in for treatments,” said Marioni. “They have become close friends. Not only has their appearance improved but they say they really benefit from the relaxation benefits an endermologie session offers.”
Endermologie technology was initially used in the treatment of burn victims, to prevent skin contraction and to loosen scar tissue. It was discovered the procedure improved the appearance of cellulite, and it soon became widely used in France. Today, endermologie is the only cellulite treatment approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Essentially it is a deep-tissue massage that uses a device that is run along a client’s fatty area. Using light suction, a fold of skin is lightly sucked into a chamber where motorized rollers manipulate the tissue.
After training in France and at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Santa Rosa, Marioni received her certificate to practice and opened her clinic in Sonoma over two years ago.
“I really love helping women feel better about their bodies and I know my treatments give them more energy and rejuvenation,” she said. “Plus, as a mother of two wonderful girls, I have the flexibility to go on field trips with them and continue with my own daily exercise schedule.”
With subdued lighting, candles and the soft scent of fragrances, many of her clients find a session at Body Technology a welcoming refuge from the stress and strain of the holiday season.
“I try to make my sessions less clinical by surrounding my clients in a stress-reducing atmosphere of soft music and candle light,” said Marioni “Some even fall asleep during a treatment and wake up feeling great.”
