Drink up: Stolen Fruit Cocktail Mixer

Fresh cocktail mixers have been growing in popularity in recent years, with bartenders and patrons seeking the freshest and most unique blends of fruit, herbs and seasoning for their cocktails.

Sonoma County created Stolen Fruit Cocktail Mixer aims to satisfy the palette and inspire cocktail creativity with their collection of five non-alcoholic cocktail mixers.

What sets Stolen Fruit apart? It’s the wine. Each Stolen Fruit Cocktail Mixer uses Sonoma County wine grapes to create a unique flavor. They were created by Chef Peter Brown (of Jimtown Store fame) and Dry Creek-based vintners Doug and Susan Provisor.

Flavors include: Hibiscus Grenache, Blood Orange Muscat, and Lemongrass Ginger Sauvignon Blanc.

Each flavor is mixed with wine juice concentrate, verjus (pressed juice of unripened grapes), herbs, fruits and oils to create powerfully flavored mixers perfect for a simple mocktail with sparkling water on ice, or to mix with your favorite booze base.

We recently popped in Maya Restaurant to surprise the staff with these mixers and see what type of creative cocktails they could come up with, here are our two favorites, created by Hector Maldonado.

Ask for them by name at Maya (101 E. Napa St., Sonoma; 935-3500, mayarestaurant.com) or make them at home yourself! Check out stolenfruit.com to learn more.
