Earthquake Awareness Month closes with two free disaster preparedness seminars, one with an emphasis on pets.

The Sonoma Valley Fire & Rescue training team will present free disaster preparedness training on Friday, April 29, at Vintage House, 264 First St. E. From 1 to 4 p.m., experts will cover basic emergency preparedness information including what to do during and after and earthquake, household utilities control, small fire suppression, neighborhood outreach and organization, and related topics. To register call 996-0311.

On Saturday, April 30, Sonoma Valley Hospital will host a presentation on human and pet emergency preparedness by the American Red Cross and Dr. Rhonda Stallings DVM. Attendees will receive pertinent handouts, including a 16-week emergency preparedness plan for the home, plus gifts and a door prize for one lucky individual — a two-person deluxe Emergency Survival Kit. The free session will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the SVH Café.
