New principal for St. Francis Solano School

Posted on April 26, 2011 by Sonoma Valley Sun

Debbie Picard will take the reins as St. Francis School’s new principal starting in the fall.  Picard is no stranger to the St. Francis community having been a teacher at the school since 1996 when she was hired to teach first grade.  Five years later she moved on to teach the sixth grade including religion, language arts, social studies.  She also serves as a Dean of Students and has become a member of the WCEA/WASC accreditation team, serving on a visiting WASC committee.

Picard’s teaching career began in 1988 at St. Rita School in Fairfax where she taught both fourth and fifth grades.  For the past year she has been enrolled in the University of Marymount, Virginia  where she is completing her Master’s degree in administration.  This program is unique in that it has a focus on Catholic School Leadership.

Current St. Francis Principal Matt Vukicevich will return to teach at Cardinal Newman next year.
