‘Family’ portrait

With its mix of pianos, horns and acoustic guitars, The L.A.-based band Family of the Year, coming to Gundlach Bundshu on November 8, has garnered heavy radio airplay and much attention over the course of two albums and four EPs.
The group’s catchy indie-rock sound is influenced by classic pop bands like the Smiths, the Byrds, Fleetwood Mac and the Go-Betweens. San Francisco’s Bonnie & the Bang Bang will also perform. Both bands appeared at this year’s BottleRock music festival in Napa. The 7 p.m. show will be inside the winery’s Old Redwood Barn; doors at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 at Gunbun.com or $25 at the door, 2000 Denmark St., Sonoma.
