Now enrolling: free and low-cost preschool

Posted on March 12, 2015 by Sonoma Valley Sun

The Community Child Care Council of Sonoma County (4Cs) is accepting applications for enrollment for Summer and Fall programs at 12 preschools, including Sonoma.

Income-eligible families can live anywhere in Sonoma County to utilize childcare subsidies and a sliding-scale fee system. Five full-day centers operate in Petaluma, Santa Rosa and Healdsburg operate weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. year-round.

Half-day programs are also available in Sonoma, Windsor, Santa Rosa and Rohnert Park with morning and afternoon sessions.

Experiences in the first five years of a child’s life are crucial to the brain’s development of attitudes towards self, others and learning. Studies show that children that attend preschool are more likely to graduate high school, earn more money as an adult, and stay away from crime and teen pregnancy.

4Cs is committed to the success of the children in our community, to not only meet their immediate needs, but to build the foundation for future leadership and accomplishment.

Parents and caregivers are encouraged to call 4Cs for information on locations and eligibility information at 707-544-3077. Information can also be found online at www.sonoma4cs.org.
