Driver dies Friday after hitting tree near Arnold Drive

David Sharpe, 23, died in a single-car crash when he hit a large palm tree at about 4 p.m. Friday on Olive Avenue near Arnold Drive. The former U.S. Marine had to be extricated from his vehicle and was taken by a helicopter operated by REACH Air Medical Service to Memorial Hospital in Santa Rosa, where he was pronounced dead.
A memorial service has been scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church at 16920 Arnold Drive.
