One of the old Nicholas Turkey Farm locations has finally been sold again, this time by Arbor Acres Farm, Inc. to Andrew Avilar of Carneros Vineyard Management for $3.8 million (almost $15,000 per acre), according to Cyril Penn of Wine Business Insider.
Located against the sweeping slopes on the northern side of Napa Road near Denmark Road, the property is identifiable by the palm trees along the driveway.
According to Bob Nicholas, chairman of the board of Sonoma Valley Bank, the Nicholas family acquired the 256-acre site, once owned by the Gundlach family, between 1939 and 1973, and sold it in 1979 to Arbor Acres, a Nelson Rockefeller company.
Nicholas told the Sun that the marvelous old house visible in the distance was built by a Mr. MacIntosh, and served time as a speakeasy.
