The city of Sonoma Planning Commission at its meeting
Tuesday evening approved by a 4-2 vote to allow live
music from 11 AM until 2:30 PM in the restaurant
at the El Dorado Kitchen.
“It’s a matter of live music by the customers’
request,” said Jens Hoj, general manager of the El Dorado Kitchen. “What’s better than listening to music and
having a mimosa on a beautiful Sunday afternoon?”
The restaurant is located at 405 First Street West just
off the plaza in the hub of the city, so there were
obviously going to be noise concerns from local
residents.
The city received letters from a few residents
addressing these noise concerns stating, among other
things, “I am a light sleeper and need quiet at night.”
Noting that the brunch is clearly in the middle of the
day and specific complaints were about night noise –
commissioner Tom Anderson said, “After hearing from the
applicant – the letters and issues from the neighbors
are mitigated.”
“This is not the Hard Rock Café,” commissioner Randy
Cook said.
