The Sonoma Shambhala Center is offering a seven-week video class on the teachings of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, entitled “The Tibetan Buddhist Path.” Chogyam Trungpa, a renowned Tibetan meditation master who came to the U.S. in 1970, taught extensively on Buddhism and established the Shambhala meditation centers across North America and Europe. Trungpa was Pema Chodron’s original Buddhist teacher and inspiration on her Buddhist path.
This video series is based on a seminar he taught at the inaugural summer session of Naropa Institute in 1974 in Boulder, Colorado and offers an excellent overview of the path of Buddhism. A discussion period, led by local teachers from the Sonoma Shambhala Center, will be incorporated into each video presentation. Meditation instruction will also be available. This is the second half of a series of 14 talks. It is not necessary to have heard the previous talks.
The first class meets on Sunday, Sept. 16 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and continues each consecutive Sunday through October 28. The suggested donation is $10 per class ($7 for members) or $55 for the seven-class series. Registration takes place just prior to class. All are welcome, no one will be turned away for lack of funds. The Sonoma Shambhala Meditation Center is located at 255 West Napa Street.
