Popping the questions about cork

George M. Taber, author of “To Cork Or Not To Cork: Tradition, Romance, Science And The Battle For The Wine Bottle,” will moderate a panel discussion at Copia, during the Napa Harvest Festival (featuring 90 participating wineries), on Saturday, October 27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The great cork debate will include such experts on the topic as Bruno de Saizieu, the commercial and marketing director of Alcan Packin Capsules, which manufactures Stelvin; Carlos de Jesus, the marketing and communications director of Amorim Cork, the leading Portuguese cork producer; Randall Grahm, founder, winemaker and owner of Bonny Doon Vineyard and the man who staged the “funeral for the cork” in Grand Central Terminal in New York City; and Pascal Chatonnet, the world’s foremost technical expert on cork taint and the founder of Excell, a wine consulting company in Bordeaux.
George Taber will sign copies of his book at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Admission to the Napa Harvest Festival is $5 (seniors/students $4, children under 12 free).
