Find out what’s going on in The Springs and meet your neighbors on Thursday evening, Jan. 17 at the Valley of the Moon Boys and Girls Club. This will be the first in a series of quarterly town hall meetings designed to bring together members of The Springs community.
Guest speakers will be First District Supervisor Valerie Brown, Boys and Girls Club Director Dave Pier and Redevelopment Advisory Committee members Steve Cox and Rich Lee. Springs Task Force Committee member Sheana Davis will serve as moderator.
“I’m excited about the event,” said Davis, who has been getting calls from people who plan to attend. “It’s a great way to connect the community and work on strengthening The Springs, as well as dialoging on some of the challenges we’re having. All of us are responsible for taking care of our neighborhood,” she continued.
Nonprofit agencies and grade schools that serve The Springs area will be represented at the event. The local sheriff and police will have an information table, along with the YWCA.
Doors open at 6 p.m. with a complimentary reception hosted by The Epicurean Connection. The program and community conversation will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Ample time for audience participation is planned, and bilingual translation will be provided. The event is open to anyone interested in learning more about what’s happening in The Springs.
Springs town hall meetings will also be held in April, July and October, 2008.
