Obituaries


Evelyn E. Hagopian was born on August 24, 1917 in Kingsburg, Calif. to K. and Arousiag Bedrosian. She passed away on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, in Santa Rosa at the age of 90.
Evelyn and her family moved to Oakland where she attended school and graduated from Oakland Technical High School in 1935. Evelyn married Zaven Der Hagopian on May 7, 1939 and lived in the Bay Area. She was a buyer for Livingston Bros. in San Francisco for over 40 years. Eventually Zaven and Evelyn built a home and moved to Sonoma in 1965.
Evelyn was a member of the St. Gregory Armenian Apostolic Church in Fowler, and a member of the Moose Lodge in Sonoma.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Zaven and her brother George Bedrosian.
Evelyn is survived by her companion, Tony Secchitano and his family, of Santa Rosa: nephew Brian Bedrosian and his wife Yvette; great-nephews Erik and David Bedrosian of San Carlos and Nathan of Kingsburg; sisters-in-law Sophie Bedrosian of Moraga and Dorothy Hagopian of Caruthers; nieces Roberta Hagopian of Glendale and Norma Avedian and her husband Aaron. Evelyn was blessed with many cousins and dear friends, and will be missed greatly.
A Funeral Service for Evelyn was held at St. Gregory Armenian Apostolic Church in Fowler on Friday, Jan. 11, 2008. A memorial dinner will be held in Sonoma at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the St. Gregory Armenian Apostolic Church, P.O. Box 246, Fowler, CA 93625, or to the donor’s favorite charity. Arrangements under the direction of Wallin’s Fowler Funeral Home, 302 E. Merced St., Fowler, Calif.

Florindo E. Totaro, 88, passed into the arms of our Lord Jan. 7, 2008, in Sonoma. He was the husband of the late Jeannette Totaro and father of Joan Ellen Alioto. He was the loving brother of Lorraine Conti of San Bruno, Rita Roumbanis of Sonoma and the late Georgina De Luca. He was the son of the late Edna and Frank Totaro and uncle of several nieces and nephews.
Frank was a graduate of Galileo High School in San Francisco. He played professional baseball with the Los Angeles Angels in the Pacific Coast League. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, World War II and a San Francisco policeman for 11 years. He was a 33-year resident of Sonoma and native of San Francisco.
Funeral services were held. Interment was at St. Francis Cemetery, Sonoma.


Gina T. Torrieri, 54, of Santa Rosa, died Jan. 9, 2008 in Santa Rosa. She was the daughter of Shirley J. Mathis and the late Al Torrieri and stepdaughter of the late Barbara Torrier Broozer. She was the mother of Nicholas Lanfranca of Overland Park, Kan. and Joseph Lanfranca of Harrisburg, Pa., and mother-in-law of Christine and Kristy. Gina was the loving grandmother of Mark, Kendra, Juliana and Jeremiah; dear sister of Trina Harder of Sonoma, Linda Bucholtz of Fairfield and the late Alan and Michael Torrieri; and sister-in-law of Christian Harder and Kira Torrieri. Gina is survived by close friend and longtime companion Ronnie Barbosa. She was the aunt of Drew Harder and Crystal and Carl Bucholtz.
She was a very dedicated certified nurse’s assistant for the elderly for 15 years. She idolized her grandchildren and was a devoted grandmother. She loved the ocean and always migrated toward the beach. She was a 15-year resident of Sonoma County and a native of Miami, Florida.
Memorial Services were held on Wed. Jan. 16, 2008 at Duggan’s Mission Chapel, 525 W. Napa St., Sonoma.

Christena Eve Stillwell died on Jan. 11, 2008, at home in Sonoma. She was the loving daughter of Eleanor Agee of Antioch and Alvin W. Frink of Fairfield. Dear sister to Cindy Calhoun, Charles Magnes and the late Nancy Hermans, and loving aunt of several nieces and nephews.
Christena worked in retail sales at the Emporium and Macy’s for 30 years. Gardening and crafts brought her great joy, as did her loving devotion to her nieces and nephews. Christena attended Balboa High School in San Francisco, was a native of San Francisco and a 17-year resident of Sonoma.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008 at Duggan’s Mission Chapel and Interment was held at Valley Cemetery, Sonoma.
